I've Googled this and information is sparse.
I have Office 2K3 installed, and Project 2007.

When I click on an Office document link in an SPS 2003 document library or attempt to use the "Edit in Microsoft.." dropdown choice, Internet Explorer explodes:

Faulting application iexplore.exe, version 7.0.6000.16473, faulting module kernel32.dll, version 5.1.2600.3119, fault address 0x00012a5b.

Any advice? Maybe a bad DLL/helper? When I run without add-ins, I can open the document by clicking the link, but doesn't have any SPS functionality (edit/check in-out, etc.) because OWSSUPP is not loaded.

TIA for your expertise and commiseration.

Pity the insomniac dyslexic agnostic. He stays up all night, wondering if there really is a dog.

Turns out this is a (somewhat) known issue. OWSSUPP assumes that every piece of Office is the same version as the piece that installed it, so it's looking for Word 2K7, etc. (which of course I didn't have installed). My solution was to revert to Project 2003.
