I added some code to my database from another database that I had to hide the access screens and only display the forms in my database but must have copied something wrong and now I am not able to open or access the code of the database.

I get the following error:

The database has been placed in a state by user <name> on machine <name> that prevents it from being opened or locked. (Error 3734)
This error occurs when the new passive shutdown/connection control is being used. This error message indicates that a user set the database in a mode that will prevent other users from opening it.

Any ideas how to get into the code to fix this?

thanks

Paste the error message into Google. You will get back all kinds of docs and KB's on this on this. The fix is fairly complex.

The error you are encountering is one of the reasons I would rather create single user front ends rather than a multi-user front end that is subject to all kinds of different locking problems and corruption issues.

I was able to copy the database and open the copy but I now have this database and its .ldb in my folder.

Is there a way to unlock this and delete the .mdb & .ldb?
