can't open access 97

Hello everyone,
I have an old access 97 database which I am not the owner. When I try to open the application to see the forms, it gives giving me an error message you don't have the necessary permissions to use the “path/path object. Have your administrator or the person who create this object to establish the appropriate permission for you. We don’t have the administrator for this database. I can open the database see the tables, but not the host application. Could someone assist me how I can resolve this problem. I really appreciate it.

What exactly is the error and what is the type of object it is refering to?

Does it work if you copy the appliction locally? What if you import all the application objects into a new file (assuming you can)?
