I ceated a psd file a few months ago. Now i have to change something in that file, when i try to open it, i get a message:
"Could not complete your request because a layer is not a valid text layer"

information:
when i created the file i used ps7me (me=middle east edition) and used winxp home. Now i use psCSme and winxp pro.
I have a lot of layers in that file, a few of them are text layers.

Maybe a font is missing, if so can i know which one?

thanks

Give this a go, a text repair droplet(try it on a copy)...

Or, and this is what I know very little about, It could be that the PSD file uses characters and/or fonts not installed on your new machine.

You could try contacting adobe support about this, or hang around and hope we have some members with experience of this problem.

Moe: It could have been a real ugly situation, but luckily I managed to shoot him in the spine.

i have tried it already, it doesn't work.
this app is good to solve a problem that a text layer is becoming uneditable (as a text).
my probelem is that the document cant open at all!
if only i could open the file even without the text layer at all. it will be wonderfull.

If it was saved with file compatability maximized, then you could open it in Irfanview (it would be flattened of course, but at least you would be able to see what the text is doing.

Also Paintshop Pro can open PSD files(think), it may succeed where Photoshop failed, you can download a demo from...

Corel Painter and Corel Photopaint can also open PSD files.

i tried your advice to use psp and it is worked! it opened it and i have all the layers. the little problem is that have to learn to use this application.
anyway thanks a lot

Just resave it as a PSD(I think Paintshop Pro can save PSDs) and try opening it again in Photoshop.
