I am using a grid in vfp7 and have a memo field. I am unable to open the field. I previously used the grid in vfp6 and the field would open. Can someone helpout

Do you mean like in a browse where the memo just says "Memo" in it until you double-click on it?

Viewing memo fields in a grid control (I know I know the browse is really just a grid control in it's own window.) is usually done using an Editbox in the column that has the memo field as its controlsource. I'm not totally sure what it is you're after here or what you mean by "...unable to open the field". One other thing that can effect how things are displayed is the Sparse property of the column object in the grid, so you might try setting that to .T. I guess I would need a little mroe info from you before I could give you an exact solution.

If you want a memo filed to be 'apparent' in a grid - rather than the 'ever so helpful' 'Memo' and 'memo'

Add an edit box control to the column. Delete the existing text one and hey presto... you should be there!

If not ask again tomorrow afternoon and I'll send an example!
