can't open a certain type of website

I have uninstalled zone alarm (from registry as well I think) and still am not able to get on any government of Ontario websites. I have no problems whatsoever getting on any sites other than government of Ontario. Running IE 5.5. I really need to access these sites to run my business. Any suggestions...........maybe it has nothing to do with Zone Alarm? I have installed Norton 2003 firewall and have tried accessing these sites with Norton disabled but no luck.

You should use the following process of elimination to pin-point the cause of your inability to access certain site(s):

1) installing Netscape 4.5 or higher see if that goes thru.
(a) If Netscape works, then check your IE security settings (Tools => Internet Connections => Security).. you might need to lower the bar.
(b) If Netscape fails also, then go to step 2.
2) Upgrade IE to v6, possibly try the 128-bit encryption version which is only available for US & Canada users.

3) If the above fail, call/email your contact person at the government's office to have their IS Dept look into your problem, it could be a problem they are not aware of, or could be a deliberate modification to their site, of which they should have a special connection instruction.

By-the-way, one more thing, you may also need to disable all Firewall and ad/cooky blocker agents running on your system .... just to be sure it's really browser issue.
