This is really starting to make me angry. I just want to mount a simple share and no methods I've tried are working. Scenario: FreeBSD 4.6.2 server, and Win2k advanced server. Share is created on the w2k box, proper accounts are given permissions. I can log on to it and browse the share with smbclient from the bsd box. But mount_smbfs gives me access denied errors. Sharity-light pauses for a few minutes then gives an 'operation not permitted' error. I've tried multiple accounts, even logging onto the bsd box with accounts with the same windows names. Nothing helped. Plan B, was to install an NFS server (Omni-NFS) on the windows box. This halfway works, I can mount the share with mount_nfs, but the mountpoint does not show up and ls gives me a 'stale nfs file handle' error. Probably an unrelated/different problem?
I also can't mount a smb share on the bsd box from windows, I also get 'this account is not authorized from this workstation' type error. I'm pretty sure my smb.conf file is just not set right though, so that's not of much concern right now. I just need to get bsd to see that windows share.
Any ideas on what to check? I don't care which method or program I use just so long as I can mount it. I'm a relative newb with fbsd so be gentle. :)
