Cant Merge Tapes

Arcserve 2k -
help, i sucessfully inventoried the tapes however i cant merge! here is the error message:
"Cannot submit the RUN NOW job due to unavailable group or backup devices"

the backups work fine, job status is ok.
any suggestions much appreciated

Is there another ARCserve server accessing the device (merge, backup, restore, inventory, etc.)? If so, they have to be finished before a Merge Now can be run.

Instead of doing a Run Now, try scheduling in for a few minutes in the future.
