I had posted this yesterday and tried the recomended step of "detect and repair" but the problem persists. Anyone else have a recomendation?

I am trying to link to a table in an accounting database and I have never had this problem before. I go to "File", "Get External Data" and select "Link Tables". Here I go to "Files of Type" and select "ODBC Databases" in the dropdown. Usually it then opens a "select data source" window which allows me to pick the tab that says "Machine Data Source" Now, however, as soon as I choose "ODBC Databases" the window closes.

When my databases go squiffy I do a decompile which is an undocumented feature in Access. You need to create a shortcut to ms access.exe not your database and have the shortcut's target set to

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\msaccess.exe" "C:\yourdb.mdb" /decompile

Once you have had the warning message and the database has opened recompile it. You may find the odd behaviour goes away.
