I have two files from an MS SQL DB. In each file I have a text field called mdevice. I want to link the two files together in a Crystal 9 report using this field, but in the database links window these two fields are not displayed in the list of fields available to link. Why doesn't Crystal display these fields?

Thanks

The use of text fields as joins is a VERY bad idea due to their size.

The dba (or database architect) should be drug to the top of the highest cubicle wall and slammed into the hot, weak office coffee dispenser until his/her eyes blister.

Try creating a View on the SQL Server Database, or create views from each table for ongoing flexibility and cast the fields as varchars.
