I just got this setup working on Win2k, Legato 6.0.1, connected optically to a Optical->SCSI bridge.
I can deposit tapes, mount tapes.
When I try and label a tape the volume always shows as unlabeled. Barcode labeling is turned on.
When I try and unmount the tape it won't unmount.
I have manually removed the tape from the jukebox, reset, deposit, label and get the same results.

What else can i try?

Whitewiz,

Can you tell me what Host Bus Adapter are you using? I have experience this type of problem and found it to be the HBA in the server. Are you using a SAN or just connecting through FIBRE to your tape unit? I assume when you said optical you meant FIBRE. You may want to check your target ID's on the drives through Windows2K. We had issues where the SCSI target ID's were at 126 and for some reason Win2k had problems with this. We set the target ID to a value of 21 and that seem to fix the problem. This is set in the setup of your Fibre to SCSI converter. Its called the ALPA address. Basically it was too issues that fixed the problem. The SCSI Target id and changing the HBA to another manufacturer.
