Hi: I have a windows 2000 professional box, and need to join a domain, but when i go to My Pc-Properties-Network ID, all the buttoms are "grayed" and i cant change to a domain, why? i logged with the local administrator

thanks!

Is the network card drivers installed, and all of the protocol installed in the Local area connection?

A service that is required is not running:

Start, Administrative Tools, Services:

Server service
Workstation service
RPC
RPC Locator
DNS Client service
DHCP Client service

. Check that it is not a domain machine entry issue:

Have a domain admin remove the machine account. Wait at least 30 minutes. Re-add the machine account.

. Not too that you need to be a member of the Local Administrator account to change the Computer Name settings
