When I installed a particular program (System : Windows XP Pro + SP3) , I got this error message :

I guess this is a Windows Installer issue .
I have tried these procedures without success :

1)Use Windows Installer cleaner to clear old versions

2) Reinstall Windows installer version 3 and 4.5

Please help ... Thanks

Hi,
Where are you installing the program from?

If CD or DVD use the drop-down or browse to select it and find what it is looking for.

If some other location, use browse to point to it.

Looks like its a spanned installation. Looking for some files in a different location, rather than a problem with the Windows Installer itself.

Is the Application in a Zipped file? If so have you extracted all files to a location?

Does the application have other files besides a single executable or MSI file? If so are these available ?

Ignorance is not necessarily Bliss, case in point:
Unknown has caused an Unknown Error on Unknown and must be shutdown to prevent damage to Unknown.

hi,
I have encountred such problems when installing/updating
programs using different users (also if all admin).

I understand that exist privacy policies, but in win environment, is better if installations in a machine,
is done always by the same username (call it installer),
even if done by different persons.
Windows writes mysterious files under tmp user folders
and also in registry,
if setup procedures are not well designed.

Thanks turkbear, Vacunita, victorv for your kind responses.

It's just an .exe for the trial shareware called "Picture Collage Maker Pro v2.0.7 (Build 2267)" which I downloaded from the author's website . Nothing special about this program at all !

So this could be the author's error in producing the .exe for distribution ? . I did write the program's support group at the website but got no reply !!

Please advise ...Thanks.

Try downloading the .exe once more in case there was some corruption with the download. If that doesn't work try the "Run" option on the Download window rather than the Save. You could also try the basics like disabling (temporarily) virus scanners and other security type programs while installing.
