Hi everybody,

I've got a Compaq'Server (pentium III, with DAT tape, scsi RAID drive
and IDE cdrom) and I want to install SCO OpenServer 5.0.4.
While the process, I've got the message below :
System error 2
while opening file
/cdromFS/opt/archives/VOL.000.000

So I tried to change the boot string and .... nothing else. When I
look into the CD, I saw that the file are named : VOL.000.000,
VOL.000.001, ... and the permissions are : -d-xr-xr-x Is it allright?

Can you help me?

Thanks in advance,

Betan
P.S. : sorry for my poor english (I'm a french boy)

What model of compaq? and what model of raid controller?
are you using smartstart?

IMHO you must have a COMPAQ EXTENDED FEATURE SUPPLEMENT (EFS) FOR SCO OpenServer RELEASE 5 disk.

I've got ProLiant ML370 and two RAID 1+0 (4 * 18Go )
I used smartstart to configure raid

Ok more information :
->i've got nothing on the integrateed controller Smart Array -5i and 4 scsi disk on the Raid Smart 5300
->my defBootStr is fd(64) unix root=ram(7) ram.preloaded=7 swap=none dump=none nbuf=3 isl.S=3 isl.pause ramdisk=fd(64)rootFS

But it's write : no root disk controller

so....

you will need to use the "btld" disk from the efs package and link in the ciss driver.

I will try to find bltd disk to link in the ciss driver
Thanks

May be I'm so silly but I've got Proliant Essentials Foundation Pack with 2 cd :
->SmartStart for servers
->Management CD
and I don't find the btld disk...

if u are getting the first error still i.e.

while opening file /cdromFS/opt/archives/VOL.000.000

then in it is most likely a cae of bad CD or a bad CD drive

ur feedback is a very welcome desire

Yes, I've got error while opening....
My cdrom driver is ok! But the media, I don't know!

Thanks, but I found yesterday the btld disk. But nothing else, so I think the cdrom (media) is over!
In other way, can I find a root disk? (see thread58-719477 for more information)
