when i try to import a tif file into Word 2000 (through insert|picture|file, i get a dialog box asking what format to bring the graphic file in, then after i select tiff, an error message pops up saying does not recognize file.

my current workaround is to import the tif file into MS Publisher (imports with no problems), then copy/paste into Word.

There must be a way to directly import a tif into word.

i have also tried exporting the graphic as jpeg in photoshop. still get same non-result when importing into word.

not sure if Word cannot read a tif created by photoshop 5.5 (possibly a later tif encoding), or there is some other filter i need to get.

have searched microsoft site and downloaded additional graphic filter files. did not work.

tif file created in photoshop 5.5 (mac version)

Word 2000 (office 2000 pro-SR1) running on Windows 98SE.

thanks for any help

Did your Office 2000 installation include the graphic filter for .tif? If left unchecked, Word might not recognize the format. Try re-running setup to ensure that all graphic filters are installed. Newposter

checked for filters and tif is installed (it's part of the default install).

still no luck on importing into word.

did find a knowledgebase article (Q232496) that describes options on fixing this import problem. will give this a go.
