Any idea why, in a normal PP presentation, I'm selecting several objects, and when I try to Group them (either by right-clicking or from the Draw menu), the Group option would be grayed out?

Thanks,

Dan

if you position your cursor such that you can left click it and draw an imaginary box aroung the objects, you'll see a dotted line drawn, and then anchor points appear around the objects.
Once you see those you will see that "Group" is no longer greyed out

Hi,

Thanks for responding. But that method, if I understand you (basically using click and drag to select multiple objects), doesn't change anything.

What DOES matter as I experiment further (in a completely different presentation) is that I can select and group drawing objects but not text boxes. That is, I can't group text boxes with each other or with drawing objects.

Any other thoughts?

Maybe I'm not understanding correctly, but I am able to click and drag around a portion of my sample slide which includes a picture, three text boxes, and numerous drawing objects, and Group works perfectly. I'm using Office 2000/Windows 2000.

PowerPoint does not allow you to group placeholders. Placeholders are the shapes that have those "Click to..." kind of text and when you click, the text disappears allowing you to type. See if you are trying to group placeholders.
