This one has me COMPLETELY stumped.
Environment. Linksys router and cable modem.

4 pc's in environment one is a laptop.

For no apparent reason none of the machines will go to one website. It hasnt been blocked in any way, there seems to be no other website that is "off limits". There is no message except the unable to reach page

Two interesting sidenotes:

The laptop WILL visit the website while in another network.

Recently there was a power outage, the whole thing went down. Since, all devices have been shut down and restarted. Im not sure if the times correspond, so don't know if there is a tie in..

help...!!

DSL as your broadband?
This is likely an MTU issue. Set the router MTU to 1492, and your client MTU to 1492 using a utility such as DrTCP:
The next step is to clean your Temporary Internet File cache. In IE, Tools Internet Options, Temporary Internet Files, click on both Delete Cookies, and Delete Files. Exit IE. Restart IE and test.

XP with Service Pack 2?
Possibly an authentication issue. Please advise. But follow all of the steps above as applicable.

Thanks for your reply..however.
CABLE is broadband..not DSL
and the problem happened with all 4 of the machines on the network at the same time which would seem to eliminate the temp files as the culprit

Is the website in question a financial site ie: on line bank or similar?

The website in question is NOT financial, or anything like that.

and remember, I can access it from outside the 'problem' environment. Only problem is machines behind that one particular router/modem. I took the laptop to another network and it accesses that site no problems

Have you checked the router settings thoroughly, some of the Linksys ones have parental contol type settings that let you block specific web sites, as the problem you have affects al of the mnachines on your network only when they are going through the router then th erouter has to be the problem.

ASCII stupid question, get a stupid ANSI!

Also, maybe take the router out of the equation? As a test plug the laptop directly to the modem?

If the laptop visits the site without issue offsite (I'm guessing you're logging in as the same user offsite as on) then this is one of two problems.

1. Linksys router
2. Broadband connection

Now, considering most broadband companies don't block any websites, I'd look to the Linksys. Either the linksys took a hit and is having a problem(possible corruption to IOS from power outage), with this being the only website that is exhibiting the behavior thus far or a rule has been enabled on the router. I do know that some of these routers come with built in firewalls.

I'd say follow maingeek's advice get a different, and known working, router into the equation and see if the problem persists. Or, if you have a backup of the settings you used for this router, push them to the router and see if the problem persists. But I'd be focusing on the router at this point in time.

I had a problem where I could not visit two particular websites using my DSL connection, but could access them from work. I did whois lookup and discovered they both had 66.154.X.X IP adresses. OK... I then tried a few other websites with 66.154.X.X IP addresses which I could not connect to either. I contacted Earthlink DSL which discovered they had a routing configuration problem.

Try another website with a similar IP address.

Thanks guys.. I had been focusing on the router also.. I've did unplug it and let it restart.. but I like (and should have thought of ) eliminating the router in the mix and going right to the modem..

thanks...

Oh...side note to all this...DH, I think a flogging is in order for such a bad siggy!!!!! :)
