I have been trying to install the RPM for WINE but its keeps prompting for a package called "libasound.so.1".I did a search on the net for the mentioned package and it points to a alsa-related driver. I've since downloaded and installed almost all of alsa RPMs I can find but I still can't get WINE to install. Any ideas anyone?

Oh yeah....I am running Redhat 8.

rpmfind.net says that this file belongs to 'alsa-lib' package. Try this one.

pupu...I downloaded and installed it, no luck. its still prompts for "libasound.so.1" Information is free....dont hog it!

Well, it's not the best approach, but it works sometimes. Try to "find / -name 'libasound*'". You will probably find it somewhere, with different number (like libasound.so.2). Create appropriate symlink to it.
