based on all of the posts i've read...i guess my tcp/ip stack became corrupt after running SpyBot to clean up a bunch of adware...shortly after rebooting i kept losing the ability to get to websites and my mail popserver...my IM still works...but nothing else

-i've run the drtcp and changed the MTU to 1492
-winsock stack repair (netsh winsock reset catalog)
-run WinsockXPFix.exe
-uninstalled and resinstalled all of my networking options
-done everything on FAQ779-4625

nothing has worked...nothing has worked...i'm desperate...i'm about to throw myself out the window

Spybot usually creates a Restore Point in XP. Have you tried going back to a prior restore point?

I'm not sure if you used netsh with the following command but give it a shot. I'm also not sure if XP Home Edition has this option but try typing this into the command prompt one line at a time pressing <enter> after each one.

Prompt>netsh
Prompt>int
Prompt>ip
Promot>reset

Reboot the computer and test it out.

Most likely you have the XP Firewall reenabled!!! take a look at it... escpecially if you are using another brand Firewall...

from the command prompt run SFC /SCANNOW (have your XP CD ready), as this will scan for corrupted System Files and does a repair...

If it works don't fix it! If it doesn't use a sledgehammer...
