Cross-Post!!!
The advanced client will not install on my
single primary site server or any of my secondary site servers. I get the following DCOM error:
The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Launch
permission for the COM Server application with CLSID
{135D7881-D666-4046-A1DF-7EC7B5785A67}
to the user MyDomain\SMSService SID
(S-1-5-21-11733343470-205454426-7473742-80981). This security
permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative
tool.
I perform the following:
1. Add IWAM_, Service, System, Authenticated Users, and Interactive to
the DCOM Users group.
2. Assigned local & remote launch and activation rights to the IWAM_ account.
3. Restarted the server.
4. Stopped the required services and ran the synciwam.vbs -v command.
5. Restarted the services and I get the following error:
Product: SMS Management Point -- Error 25006. Setup was unable to
create the Internet virtual directory SMS_MP
The error code is 80020009
A reinstall of IIS seems to be a temporary fix but it screws up the
WSUS, SMS Web Reporting, and the Remote Web Tools so I'm now convinced
re-installing IIS isn't the answer. Running:
returns the following error:
The page you are looking for might have been removed, had its name
changed, or is temporarily unavailable.
Running the MP Troubleshooter on this server reports 2 issues with the MP:
If MP candidate is remote: Verify the site server machine
account...Not Applicable
Does the SMS service account have administrative rights...Not applicable
The following error is received when running the MP.msi file:
Setup was unable to create the Internet virtual directory SMS_MP
The error code is 80020009
If I re-install IIS I get the following Warning which leads to
assigning the permissions mentioned above:
A provider, PolicyAgentInstanceProvider, has been registered in the
WMI namespace, root\ccm\Policy\Machine, to use the LocalSystem
account. This account is privileged and the provider may cause a
security violation if it does not correctly impersonate user requests.
At this point the client isn't installed on any of my SMS servers.
I've performed the WMI steps and am now at a loss as to what else I
need to do to resolve this issue. Therefore ANY responses are
appreciated!!!
