Can't get rid of the System Config Utility popup on a TS 2

I have a windows 2003 R2 Terminal server with citrix.

In setting the server up, I used msconfig to get rid of some of the startup items. I have since copied over the Default Profile, and now, for each new user, the system configuration utility popup ("You have used the System Config Uility...") come up. Only once, but every new user gets it on the TS.

I tried logging in as a user, clicking the option to stop showing the popup. I then copied this profile over the Default Profile, but it still comes up for new users.

How can I get rid of this? Thanks.

Thanks,
Andrew

Are you talking about the Manage Your Server page?

If so, in GPO under Comp Config/Admin templ/system
There is a Do not display Manage Your server Page at Logon...

I hope this is what you meant. Otherwise I'll research further.

check for an msconfig entry in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
and delete it (backup first), that works in xp

Every time ive had to do this i just log in as administrator and tell it not to tell me again and ok it. None of the standard users see that popup after that.

TechyMcSe2k - I was talking about the popup that comes up the first time you log in after using the MSCONFIG utility.

I did realize why it kept popping up. I had to make the user an admin on the local server, then turn it off. I did that and it finally stopped.

Now I am having another problem. I got the profile fixed, and tried copying that fixed profile back into \Default Profile. That failed because there was a file in Default Profile it couldn't delete.

5 minutes and a server reboot later

All set now :)

Thanks,
Andrew

I believe the problem is, is that he copied it to Default User. This reloaded the Registry key /RUN. Check in the registry under HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run and see if the msconfig resides there...

Otherwise, reconfigure the Administrator Profile registry to remove this from run and then copy it to Default Profile to overwrite what you did previously.

Yes, star indeed.

Lemon - thanks for your response too - I did check that reg key yesterday and the msconfig reference was not there.

Thanks,
Andrew
