Hi all. We have a pc at work, Windows95. On a scan with AVG, updated, it picked up the IRC/Generic virus. Found in 3 files; c:\windows\winstart.bat, c:\windows\startmenu\programs\startup\win.com.bat, c:\mirc\mirc.bat
On checking on my Win98 pc I see these batch files don't even exist. Am I correct in assuming it is safe to just delete these files? If so, will this cure the problem, and if not, what is plan B.
Thanks, Rene

As this is a generic detection covering hundreds of different viruses, specific details cannot be given.

It sounds like it may be this one perhaps:

You need to do an online virus scan,

Good luck and let us know how you are doing!
If you have any specific information to give I can help you find the fixes.
