Can't get POP3 to work on GW 5.5

Hi all,

I've been trying to get POP3 to work so that I can check my GroupWise email via Eudora, Outlook, or any other email client. We are behind a firewall, and I've been using our internal IP address to connect.

If I go to DOS and telnet into the IP at port 110, it shows: "+OK GroupWise POP3 server ready". However, it will not accept my username and password and gives the following error: "-ERR Login Failed".

Is there anything I could be doing wrong? I can't get it to work with another email client. And I have POP3 and SMTP enabled under the GWIA. I'm using my name and password which are the same I use to log into our server here.

Thanks,
- Matt.

I had the same problem a while ago. If I remember correctly I set the Outlook client to use IMAP instead of POP3 and it worked a treat.

Thanks, I'll give that a try. I've also been testing out spam filtering desktop solutions as a temporary cure for all the spam we get and it appears the one I was testing only supported POP3.
