Last night we lost power at our home while my PC was running. When I powered up my PC this morning, I get the startup in Normal or Safe Mode window, but not matter what option I choose, I am returned to this window.

I have tried every possible option, but I keep getting returned to this window.

Prior to the power outage, This PC has be operating just fine.

Does anyone have any idea how to fix this problem with XP?

Thanks, Joe

Sounds like the hard drive may be currupted. Did you create a rescue disk for the pc? If not, you might have to reload. Check the cmos setup to make sure that the hard drive is defined correctly.

While this won't answer your post, you might consider buying a UPS (uninteruptable power supply) to protect your PC in the event of a power outage. They can shut your PC down unattended and protect it from all sorts power company voltage conditions (brown-outs, spikes, etc). I have one and it saved my a*s quite a few times!
