I have a Magix 2.0 and 1.0 Merlin Messaging. I have unrestricted the mail ports, they have an FRL of 3 and I have enabled outcalling for several mail boxes and still she wont outcall. I have monitored the trunks to see if goes off hook, but no luck. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I had this trouble in the past. You need to enable trunk to trunk permissions for each extension you want outcalling or direct transfer to. For security purposes, you should setup to only call the number designated through ARS/FRL that way no toll fraud.

Do you mean open trunk to transfer on the mail ports?

From the Merlin Messaging R1 System Manager's Quick Reference:

Enter the Programming Mode - Select Extensions - Select Restriction -

Enter extension number of Merlin Messaging port. Enter only extension number of highest port, i.e., Port 2 on a two-port system, Port 4 on a four-port system, Port 6 on a six-port system.

Select Unrestrict - Choose Enter - Select Back

Select next page of menu - Select ARS Restrict - enter extension number of Merlin Messaging system port - erase current FRL - Enter new restriction level [3] - select Enter

Return to System Programming Menu - Select Night Service - Select Exclusion List - Assign Merlin Messaging System port to Exclusion list.

Touchtone Tommy,

I do have your settings programed and the mail will still not outdial. Thanx

foncrazy, did you ever get that outcalling feature fixed? i'm in the same situation you are/were and even called expanets and they said it's a trial and error thing.
if you have any info i'd greatly appreciate it.

Check that your station COR and COS are appropriate. I think all default at 3. I believe you have to adjust up to 4. I have two sites that are working fine. I will have to review and get back to this one, but believe the end key was the ports COS.

thanks, scottel. changed the merlin port cor settings last port (6) to U4N, COS in system setting screen, cos screen and in indiv. subscr. screen to Y, enabled outcalling in vm box with 9* input number 9*1+number and still no go. this is hard! tested outdialing capabilities on port with "test out" command and it rang my cell. i know i'm missing something on the merlin side, but what?

Make sure that the VM ports(Outdial port) have access to the lines, under Extesions,Lines and Trunks.Enable Rotary enable(legend 7.0 or higher) for the VM ports, and again make sure that you have no restriction ,and the ARS restriction is 3.If you cover all that plus what listed in the above posts it should work. Good Luck!

You can use the monitor function to put a trace on the voice mail ports. This way you can see what activity is taking place.
