Hi!

I actually found this forum by doing a search about Java not working in IE5. Someone had the same exact problem I'm having back in May. I can't get any Java aplets to work in IE5 or Netscape (I don't use Netscape much, but I thought I'd check it and it doesn't work either)... I've tried doing just about every suggestion I've read here and other places, such as chaning my security level, making sure Java is enabled, and everything else. It won't work still... Is there anything else I can do? This all started when I DL IE5, I use to be able to see Java applets on IE4. I'm on Windows ME I believe, if that helps any...

Any help or suggestions anyone can give will be greatly appreciated:)

You may want to check first what build of java you have. Open a Command Prompt window and then type in the command jview to get the version number. joegz

I had the same problem.
My Java had problems from time to time so I decided to download the Microsoft patch Build 3805.
It was worse, my Java stopped working and would not open any applets.

Fortunately I found the Sun Java software which I got from:

It solved my problem Now my applets work faster than ever.
One website that allowed me to open only two applets with IE5.0, now let me open more than four windows at a time!

I had no need to remove Build 3805.

Hope it works for others as well
