We have some database tables, mdb, that are generated by a proprietary program. The program 'eats' any data over 3 months old. (Needless to say, tech support has been talked to about this.)

We keep the data separate from the program. If we need it for historical reasons, we go in, change the date and then search that section of the database.

The 'search' program in the proprietary program is a real pain to use. It is not efficient.

I would like to pull those tables into Access and set up a good search program. However, when I get into the table, it says 'Access Denied'. And, there is not much else.

Two questions:
1. Will I be able to get into the database tables?
2. If so, how. Or ideas as to what 'Access denied' means will be appreciated?
You just found out why it is generated by a proprietary program.
So they have control.
They have given the database User security.
Unless you know the login and password you will not be able to get into it.
I suppose you pay an annual fee or something of that nature.
Maybe its time to look at creating your own program in Access.
We have the login and password. How can I apply this to just one table.

I don't want to get into the program. I just want into the data.

We do pay an annual fee. It is to access, via modem, visa and mastercard.

Anything is bound to be a better program than that is.

Need more details.
1. When you get that message, how are you getting into the table? (launching Access and attempting to open the db directly, or creating a front end and linking to the db)
2. Is Access prompting you to log in with your username and password when you do this?
