Hi Everyone,
I have a database that is suddenly asking me to "Enter Database Password". I don't know how to get around it and I can't even import the tables into another database. How could this happen all on it's own? As far as I am aware no one else has been messing around with it!

thanks for any advice you can give me,

GPM

Thanks for that.

I tired the software and it told me that the password is ?????????????????? but when I tried to enter that it said it was not a valid password. I even copied and pasted it. Any other ideas?

GPM

No joy, unfortuntately it still prompts me for the password!! Do I have any other options?

thanks,

GPM

No more options with me..
May be some one else can help you..

What version of Access are you running? 95/97 or 2000/later?

An Access 95/97 pwd recoverer is available for free from
Access 2000 and later is harder to deal with as it encrypts the database password differently. Still, you can try the Office Key demo from - it's restricted in that it only reveals the first couple of letters of the password, but this might be enough to jog the memory.

Thanks mp9,
I tried the demo and it still gives me ?? as the first two characters. The problem is I've never set up a password for this database so there's nothing for me to jog in my memory. Is there any way to extract the tables etc without being asked for the password?

thanks,

GPM

Though I don't know the answer; I like to ask if you are using any different language in your PC. I have seen Arabic charector password to be seen as some unknown script with this password finder

Hi Zameer,
Actually that's interesting that you asked that. When I used one of the password recovery programs it displayed characters that I didn't recognise. I don't know if they were arabic or chinese or whatever. When I copied them to word or to enter in the password textbox they simply came ups as ???etc I personally only use English UK on my computer so I'm unsure how this could have happened? Maybe this info will mean something to someone in my quest.

thanks,

GPM

I have a font/text preview app free download(7kb zip file) from site. Paste password into the text area then try changing the font form the list. may be you are lucky
