can't get into AIX node due to low memory 2

I am trying to get into S80 box, but I can't get into.
If I hit 'Enter' on the emulator, I get <Your 'TELNET' connection has terminated>

<Your 'TELNET' connection has terminated>

<Your 'TELNET' connection has terminated>

<Your 'TELNET' connection has terminated>
<Your 'TELNET' connection has terminated>
...........

This box has a very low memory, and seomthing is eating up all memory. But, I can't figure out what that is because I can't log into it.

Other than hard reboot, what is the way to get into this box? Console of the S80 doesn't allow me log into either.

Sorry but the way i do it is through reboot!

what you can do , is pull out all network cables, let certain sessions timeout,and if you're lucky you will be able to access the server through the console,and start killing processes.If all that fails, as said, reboot ...

I was able to shutdown the S80 box, but the major problem is the S80 fails to boot up.

On the LCD, it displays "0518" and then just got stuck. If you hit a button with "enter key", it displays "11-3". I have tried a number of times, but it stops at "0518".

What is the issue and how to resolve it?

0518 is / or /usr corruption.

Enter maint mode and run fsck -y on

/dev/hd4, hd2, hd9var, hd3, hd1 and logform /dev/hd8

I wasn't able to run fsck, so I rebooted after restore from mksysb. Now, I am getting 0517 on LED (Mounting client remote file system during network IPL) and got stuck.
Is it basically the same with 0518?

What would be the resolution for this?

Can I run fsck with AIX OS 5.3 CD whereas this box is on OS 5.1? or, does it have to be 5.1. CD?

I don't know if you would able to use 5.3 to boot the one with 5.1 but its worth checking any way! But i would prefer if you have a 5.1 (same version)!

For future reference there is a bug in fsck - apar IY44396

518 is no bootable device found, maybe you have a physical disk error, was rootvg mirrored?

I ahve tried many things, and found the system had fata errors. I had to reinstall OS frmo scratch...
