I recently had my PC upgraded to Windows NT. Company policy is to re-image not upgrade, which meant that I had to reinstall InterDev. Since them I have not been able to get my website back into InterDev. Do I have to create a new project and add the files to it? I have tried to connect to an existing application but it does not come up in the list.

Any help would be appreciated.

That's the way I normally do it - Create a new project, delete everything in it, and then add in all the files from the existing project. [sig]
nick bulka

[/sig]

Are you using PWS or IIS? If you are using InterDev 6.0 and trying to connect to IIS, you should be able to create a new web project and give it the same name as your old web project. InterDev will then connect to your old site. IF you are using PWS, it should work the same way although I have not tested it with PWS. [sig][/sig]

I am using IIS. OK so do I select to Create NEW project and then in the Name Box input the old web project name (Would that be the name of the Website as specified in IIS?)
Then it asks me for the server and I select Master Mode.
At that point do I create a new Web Application or connect to an existing web? When I select the drop down for existing web it does not list my web although it exists on that server.

Thanks

I am still having problems....

Any assistance would be helpful.

Thanks

if you try to create a new web, and point it to the existing web directory, it should find the old one and ask if you want to use it or overwrite it.

I have tried all of those things and it still is not working.... HELP!

Is the project already on a web server?
If it is then you need to connect to an existing project within Interdev - do not create a new one.
Use the URL at the start rather than trying to use a directory.
Make sure you go in using local rather than master mode.
If this continually bombs out you have an out of date or corrupt install of Front Page extensions on the server - check out technet on this.
If this still doesn't work you need to assign specific IP addresses to each virtual site on the server.

I suppose the bastards imaged some existing installation, without copying your stuff first to a network or creating a backup, and you don't keep copies of your life's work yourself.

Create a new project. The name of the project os just the name of the local project file, so the name matters not.

Choose to connect to an existing web. Enter the address or IP, plus sub, of the existing site - like 127.0.0.1/whatitypeinie for a local web server.

You my see a prompt to copy library files, which you'll need to use anything like a SOM object.

Think about getting Visual Source Safe, which integrates well with IIS, or some alternative.
