Hi everyone,
Here's a totally bizarre one that I've never encountered. Over the course of the last month, we've noticed that if some folks could email us just fine, but if they added an attachment to the email, it and the message would just up an vanish. They showed they sent it, we just don't get them. after having spoken with some of the senders, I realized that a common thread is that they're all running Win XP. I did a little experiment where I emailed myself a collection of attachments using Win 95/98/ME/2000, even Unix and Linux, and in every case, I got the message and attachments just fine. The minutes I tried sending the same attachments using Win XP, that's when I ended up in trouble. Outlook says the messages went out, but we got nothing here. As far as our Exchange server is concerned, the messages never existed.
I've been researching the problem for some time now and I've drawn one big blank for an answer. Is there some incompitability issue I don't know about, or something else that I just haven't figured out yet. And is there anyway to fix it short of going out and investing a lot of money on the latest and greatest?
Has anyone else ran into this issue, and if so, do you have a solution?
As for hardware and software, we're running Exchange 5.5 on a Dell Poweredge 1300. Exchange has Svc pak 4 installed, and we're running Windows NT with service pak 6. I also do a prtty good job of keeping up on the latest security updates, jsut in case there's an issue there.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, and have a great day.
Rich
