We are running Small Business Server 2003, and Backup Exec 9.1 with the latest build. Backups were running fine, now they are failing and the log says unable to attach to the Mailboxes. When I go to the job and selections, when I try to expand the Mailboxes, it pops up the logon box and says access denied, I have a dedicated logon account for veritas. I have tried all of the admin accounts. I can use the veritas account for exmerge just fine, but not with veritas, has anyone seen this.

Are you able to map a drive to the exchange server using the service account? Has the email admin made any changes to the exchange server? Do you have proper mapi connectivity? Is the exchange server on the same box as the backup server?

I can map drives with this account, it can run exmerge successfully; don’t know how to check Mapi connectivity, the backup software is running on the exchange server. I have followed Microsoft procedures for setting up the account to run exmerge. I have this same setup running on 15 other servers and none of them have this problem, I have looked at the permissions inside the exchange manager for the mail folders on this server while checking the same things on another server that works and everything looks the same...
