I'm using Illustrator 9 operating under Windows 2000. (I downloaded the patch that upgrades Illustrator 9 to 9.02 for use on Win 2000.)

Has anyone had this happen? A couple of times now I've had to reinstall Illustrator because suddenly, for no apparent reason, I lost the handles on objects when they are selected with the selection tool (black arrow). Without the handles, of course, I can't adjust the size of a selected object.

Either there's a bug in the program, or I inadvertantly did something to cause the problem. Any suggestions?

Its called a bounding box and you can hit ctrl+shift+b to toggle it on and off.
Question:
I have the same set you do and when I install the 9.0.1 patch my average points command destroys the object. Does this happen to you? BEHOLD! As Steve Jobs introduces us the latest in desk-lamp technology!

Jaquan: Thanks for helping me again! I don't know how it was accidentally toggled off, but your suggestion saved my having to reinstall the program.

I hadn't used the average points command before, but your question prompted me to try it. As far as I can tell, it works fine, although I don't quite understand how to apply it. You mentioned the 9.0.1 patch, and the patch I used updates Illustrator to 9.0.2. Would that make a difference?
