Microsoft Access ADP 2003
linked to SQL server
Problem: When in a form, user trys to create a new record but receives the following error:
"Microsoft Office Access can't find the object 'SELECT (0) as Column1, (0) AS Column2, (0) AS Column3 etc..'

*You misspelled the object name. Checck for missing underscores(_) or other punctuation, and make sure you didn't enter leading spaces.
*You tried to open a linked table, but the file containing the table isn't on the path you specified. Use the Linked Table Manager to update the link and point to the correct path."

More info: I can add new records from the tables just fine. Recordsources for forms are selects made using the builder and have 1 to m and m to m relationships in them.

I have tried from scratch and relinking as SA then importing forms from damaged file. no good.

any ideas?

what is the recordsource for the form?
are you using linked tables, or does the database connect directly to sql?

Just back from holiday...
that may it explain it.

I connected from file, get external data, Linked tables, and selected Linked server option in the wizard.

The recordsource for the form is a query w/ 3 tables m to m.

Instead, I am going to return to just using the single table as recordsource and bring in the information to fill the one textbox(contents dont need to be changed after filling) using a query in vba.

The problem that you are not able to add a new record might be caused by the query, that maybe doesn't allow adding new records. You can check this by just opening the query and see if the add record (*) is on in the record navigator. If not, you can not add records to the source. Simplyfing your query (using 1 or 2 tables) can overcome this problem (for more details, look at Updatable query's in the help system)

Keeping it simple can be very difficult
