Hi,

I'm trying to find the 128 bit GUID (globally unique identifying number) for my computer so I can get PXE to work with Remote Installation Services from a Win 2003 Server. The client I'm trying to locate the GUID for is running win2000 and has an Intel mobo. I have looked everywhere, tried a network sniffer, looked all through the bios, tried sandra, can't find a thing.

Another question--Do I actually have to have the GUID entered in the client's properties on the server for RIS to work?

Any Ideas?
Thanks

Don't know if we're on the same page or not (I run all win2000), but to get the GUID of the NIC, I just run an ipconfig /all at a command prompt to get the GUID/MAC address of the NIC. Then, I enter that into active directory on the remote install tab (last 12 characters). For the second part, I've never had a problem if you don't enter the GUID into AD---However, I don't pre-stage computers in AD. I just let RIS add them to a predetermined OU. Then, I update the GUID if necessary.
Hope that helps.
