I'm working in a SQL database that's using Microsoft SQL Server Compact Edition. I can't get into the Management System because there is no icon for it on the Remote Desktop and I don't know where the file is located to create my own.

Of course I can't edit tables or do anythimg else without access to that, and I'd sure appreciate some help on locating the active file so I can recreate the icon.

Thanks.

Did you check the Start menu? Not every icon is going to appear on the desktop. Depending on your version and other stuff, it might be at:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Tools\Binn\VSShell\Common7\IDE\SqlWb.exe"

Thanks, Duane, but the version of SQL that's in use is the Compact Edition. The directory name in Program Files is Microsoft SQL Server Compact Edition, and the only subdirectory is v3.1. The file you mentioned, SqlWb.exe is nowhere in that subdirectory, and in fact there is no .exe file at all. All are .dll except the readme file.

Any other thoughts using this version?

OK, if that's the case can I install it separately? Where do I get it?

Thanks for your help. It evidntly was not installed, although it was previously, meaning that someone intentionally unistalled it. Why? Who knows!

I now have all the directories in the path you specified...but the final file, SqlWb.exe, isn't there. This is a work computer and it doesn't have any kind of photo manipulation software on it, so I pasted a screenshot of the available files in Word Documents. Can you tell from these what the issue might be?
