I am desperate to use the out of office assistant - my book on outlook tells me that the assistant, or the relevent wizard should be on the Tools menu, but I can't find it anywhere. Further more, there seems to me nothing of use in the help menus.

You used to add it as an add in. Try tools options. Failing that try add/remove progs for Office 2000.

You might need to add it to the menu. Select View>Toolbars>Customize. Then click on the Commands tab. Under Categories, find Tools. Click on it. Go the Commands side, find the Out of Office Assistant and drag it up to Tools on the menu bar. The Tools menu will drop down once you pass over the name. Pick somewhere on the menu and release the mouse button.
