I moved a working excel97 app to from a machine running NT4.1 to a portable running win 2000 and excel97. However I now get the message 'can't find project or library error'.
When I click on the references menu it shows 5 MISSINg references including:-
MS WIndows Common Control 6.0 (SP3)
MS WIndows Common Control 5.0 (SP2)
MS Windows data List Controls 6.0 (OLEDB)
MS Windows data Bound List Controls 6.0
MS Windows ADO Data Control 6.0 (OLEDB)

However when I try to uncheck the checkboxes for the above I get a further error message 'Can't remove control or reference;in use'.

Does the fact that the above are shown as missing mean that my application doesn't need them? If so can I get rid of them on the machine that I originally developed the app on, recompile and then transfer it across to the new machine?

All help and suggestions gratefully received.

Missing means the workbook needs those references but they are not registered or don't exist on that computer. If the previous computer was using DAO 3.6 you need to install the Borland database engine. You may want to check support on the Microsoft website.
