Hello,

I'm running FC3 2.6.9-1.667. I made one machine and gave it hostname-1, and cloned the disk to a second machine. On the second machine, I changed the hostname in /etc/sysconfig/network and in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0.

The problem is that when I get mail from the system on the second machine in /var/spool/mail/root, I still get some entries that contain hostname-1. Where is hostname-1 coming from on the second machine ?

Here's the text that I get:

Code:
Received: from hostname-2.DI-624 (hostname-1 [127.0.0.1])

I tried to find hostname-1 with grep from /, but might not have used the right syntax since it didn't find anything and just stopped running after about 20 minutes:

Code:
grep -r -l hostname-1 *

Thank you in advance for your help.

I would suspect it's the hostname-command
you are looking for...

Code:
man hostname
for the details.

HTH
:)
