Hi everyone,

I'm fairly new to ARCserve and have not been able to find a way to restore files yet, although our backup procedures work great. I've searched high and low to no avail.

I hear you should be able to restore files by using the "Restore by Tree" option? However, I've drilled down and can't see any files. I've heard some people have to restore an entire tape just to restore ONE file. Unfortunately, we don't have enough room to restore an
entire tape to a temporary location. I've also heard you can use a filter, but that sounds horribly inneficient...especially if you don't know the exact file name.

If anyone could shed some light on this, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

- Matt.

this looks like you have some trouble with the ARCserve database.
Check the documents on this on :

What you can try for this specific tape is to perfom a merge operation ( through manager-utilities ) and see if this will update your database ( use the restore by session option if the merge succeeds and the database is updated.

regards
