I'm running Outlook 2000 and find that I cannot export data from Windows Address Book - that option is greyed out.

Does anyone know what is causing this and how to cure it?

TIA

Richard

Is outlook set to use the WAB for contacts or are contacts being stored in the .pst file? Is Outlook set in Internet Mail Only mode or Corporate Workgroup?

Thanks smah .. but how do you setp up Outlook to use the WAB for contacts??

TIA

Richard

Before we go down the wrong road, please confirm or deny:

1. You are trying to export from Windows address book with the intention of importing into Outlook.

2. You are opening Windows address book by going to Start, Programs, Accessories, Address Book.

3. With Address book open; File, Export shows all three options grayed out.

Thanks smah and apologies for the delay in replying.

I am trying to export data from Windows address book to create a back-up of that data on floppy disk - I assume this is possible?

I find that wab.exe is not accessed by Start > Programs >
Accessories > Address book but by "C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\wab.exe" - perhaps it is this that is causing the problem.

I confirm that once Address book is open, File Import and Export are greyed out - there is not a third option.

Any further assistance you can give me will be much appreciated.

Richard

What version of Windows & what version of OE are we talking about?

In any event, you should be able to find the windows address book data by searching for *.wab. When found, you might try copying this to another location, then using Outlook, see if this file can be imported into Outlook's contacts. If that doesn't work, a repair of OE might cure the problem.
