I'm getting the error message "the microsoft jet database engine stopped the process because you and another user are attempting to change the same data at the same time" while exporting a table to any other external file (Excel, text, DBIV, etc). Did you get any resolution on this?

I researched Microsoft KB and they suggested applying SP1 then SP2 of Access 97. Then downloading the newest Jet Database engine. The problem was still there (same results). I did further investigation in MS KB and found that large comment fields often cause this problem. They suggest performing a COMPACT in Access which resulted in a NO CURRENT RECORD error message.

I do believe it's the comment field causing the problem because when I exclude that field from the export it works fine. Client really needs this field.

Please help. Client is about to "scrub" this project and I already have numerous hours in research & frustration.

Is Comment a memo datatype? If so, it may not be able to be exported. Memo fields are not handled by Access in the same manner as other datatypes.

Yes, it is a memo type. The client really wants this data. We're exporting this into an ARES (ACT) database and this particular data is needed. Can we convert it to text, then export. Or, ????????

Regards,

Create a query and add every field from your table EXCEPT the memo field. Then, add a new expression to the QBE grid as follows:

Comments:CStr([tablename].[memofieldname])

This converts the memo datatype to a string datatype which should give you the desired results. Keep in mind that the length of a string variable is only 255 bytes. If you have text in the memo field that is longer it will be truncated.
