Hi;
I so hate to sound noob, but I have to. :)
I'm trying to set up a simple personal web server on my machine here. It's WinXP SP1, and yes, I'm a member of the Admin group. :)

So, I'm trying to install IIS and Frontpage extensions. I go to add/remove programs, components, select IIS, click next, it asks for the CD, I put in the CD, but it starts asking for files named, say, BLAH.DLL, even though on the CD, the file is BLAH.DL_. So, I copy the CD to my HD, and do a mass-rename to make all the DL_ into DLL, figuring it's an MS bug. The install chugs along for a bit, and then starts asking for files named BLAH51.DLL, even though the file on the CD (now HD), is just BLAH.DLL. I try renaming a few, but it's doing this for every one, so I figure somethings wrong.

Might as well DL everything off MS, right? So I download the Frontpage Extensions 2000... and on install, it tells me it can't install on Win2k and higher. I download FPE 2002... and it tells me it needs IIS installed. I try just installing IIS from A/R Programs... and the same problem comes up.

Does anyone have suggestions on what the heck I'm doing wrong? Or a nice, convenient link that says "Click here to install FPE on WinXP"? :) I'm starting to pull my hair out with what should be a simple process...

Thanks!

Ignore the crazy dumbass.

I have 2 CDs, both are blue. One is "Windows XP SP1 install". The other is "Windows 2000 SP4 Install". Guess which one I grabbed.[evil]

*sigh* There's 6 hours of my life I'll never get back.[sadeyes]
