can't encrypt router

i set up a wireless network at someone's house in the same manor as i did at my house. however when i try to encrypt theirs it will work until the computer is reboots. it's like the computer loses the setting as the wireless card can't find the network. you have to manually connect it. if i turn off broadcast it won't even find the network after a reboot. i on the other hand have no problems. my router is encrypted and the broadcast is off and i never have problems.

please help
