Can't drag fields into Crystal report area

I created a Crystal 8.5 report for a customer that has some complex joins between MS SQL database tables. I needed to make some changes to the report yesterday and did a WebEx with the customer so I could make the changes. However, when doing this, I could not insert any fields into the report area. The customer could not when on the WebEx or this morning after rebooting and not being on the WebEx session.

When trying to add the fields to the report (doesn't matter what field - could be just a text field). The cursor shows the black circle with the line through it. Any ideas?

Try the report expert to get the fields rather than dragging them.
