About half of the web sites I try to visit are not displayed. Either I get a partial html source or it says loading for a long time I and a page-cannot be displayed error. The partial-html downloads are what seems really strange to me. I already cleaned off spyware. Using IE 6 on Win XP Pro SP2.

Anyone?

Thanks for the link. That wasn't it, though. I reset all the settings for the security zones to default, deleted all cookies, deleted temporary internet files. Still had the problem. flush dns, refresh dns... stil broken. Restarted and it's fixed.

Actually - you were right to send me that kb link - it would have fixed me.

dragonwell,

I have been there and done that as well. Thanks for the positive report. If you are patient and do the complete troubleshooting steps in the link above it should resolve issues that appear after an SP2 upgrade.

Best wishes,

I'm having the same problem with only one web site -- I went to the microsoft kb link and followed all the steps but it didn't work for me. I have a Dell Dimension 4600, Win XP SP2, I.E. 6.0. I notice that you did mention that you flushed and refreshed dns. There was nothing on the link that referred to this and I don't know what it is. I'm a novice, just learning. If you have any further ideas for me to try I'd appreciate it, but keep it simple please as I get pretty lost in all the technical stuff.

Thanks... Nikilet

Nikilet,

Try:

. First, IEFix. This re-registers some very important DLL files for Internet Explorer: Reboot and test.

. Second, do not worry about flushing DNS

. Third, I want you to download and apply this update:
You can choose "Run" instead of "Save" anytime your are prompted; or save the file and then double click in Explorer to Run the file.

Reboot.

. Finally, even though this should not technicly matter, I want you to update your Java Virual Machine. (Click at top right, the word Download on the Green bar).

Reboot.

Now try your site again.

Best wishes,
Bill Castner
