For those who notice these things yes this is cross-posted in the Server 2008 forum. Since I'm not getting ANY responses over there I thought I'd try it here:

Hey all, I installed Exchange 2007 on a Server 2008R2 box and the install went fine. I'm trying to get Exchange up and going and I'm getting an error message stating that I have compression enabled in IIS. When I go to IIS, open the Exchange web site, deselect compression and hit Apply I get the following error:

There was an error while performing this operation.

Details:

Filename: \\?\BackOfficeStorage\jobeez.loc\ExchWeb\web.config
Error: Cannot write configuration file

I've been looking around and I can't find anything regarding this error in this situation. FWIW I'm logging in as the Domain Administrator, and this account is a member of the Local Administrators group. I've tried logging in as the local administrator with the same results. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Joe B

Hi 58sniper. Compression is not enabled on the disk volume. Where the compression is configured is in IIS > ServerName > Sites > Default Web Site > Exchange. I highlight Exchange and then open Compression. Once there "Enable static content compression" is selected. I can deselect it but exiting and trying to save the change gives me the error. Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Joe B
