I login as root and type "ppp" to enter the ppp mode. Then I type "set device /dev/cuaa0" to make the device COM1. Then I type "term" to enter the term mode. The computer hangs in there afterward, and has no response even when I type "ATDT". Can somebody tell me what's possible problem?

Thank you.

perhaps your modem is not on cuaa0. try the other 3 (cuaa1-3). if it responds to one of these, be sure to correct the default section of the /etc/ppp/ppp.conf file.
