Can't dial into Sun Server

I'm having problems dialling into the Sun Server. The line is ok but the modem hanging off the server does not answer. We tried switching off/on the modem but this didn't make a difference. Is there a way to reset the port to which the modem is connected to whithout rebooting the Server?

Did you set your modem to auto answer?(refer to modem manual)I suspect modem configuration (not auto answer) from Sun Server.
