I have a user profile that is corrupt on a Windows 2000 server. I tried to delete the profile, but I get the following error message: Cannot delete usrclass.dat: There has been a sharing violation. The source or destination file may be in use.

It is not a roaming profile. I am not aware of any processes that are accessing the file. I took ownership of the file, but it still will not delete.

Have you been able to restart the server since this started. A restart might solve the problem. A couple more thoughts I have are perhaps you could log off of the server and try to delete the file remotely by mapping a drive to get to the file. Or perhaps it was loaded as a hive into regedt32. Take a look under HKLM and HKU for a hive. Closing regedt32 doesn't unload the hive but a restart of the computer would also unload the hive.
